Wieland Metal Services returns in 2023 for a fifth consecutive year as sponsor of the Wieland Points Leader Award and the Official Aluminum Supplier of the USMTS.
At every Summit USMTS National Championship event in 2023, the points leader will wear a special dayglo-yellow or orange spoiler designating that racer as the one sitting at the top of the mountain.
The USMTS National Champion at year’s end will be awarded a complete body from Wieland, and the company is bolstering the year-end points fund for all competitors.
"Wieland acquired Wrisco nearly two years ago," said Aaron Baldridge, Wieland VP Aluminum Products and Business Development. "This transition has strengthened our market position as the leader in aluminum sheet and presented opportunity to expand in copper products for the racing industry.
"Extending our agreement to be the Official Sponsor of the United States Modified Touring Series allows us build on established success and introduce additional racers to our premium, customizable products. We are honored to be a part of the series and look forward to another great season in 2023."
Wieland serves virtually all metalworking sectors with its extensive range of services and products. The inventory includes copper and brass alloys, as well as aluminum alloys and stainless steel, engineered plastics and other niche materials in strip, sheet, rod, bar, profile, coil, and foil forms.
In addition, Wieland offers a variety of value added services including, but not limited to, strip slitting, tinning and electroplating, cutting, finishing, metal coatings, and traverse winding. With a broad geographical presence and IT-based service offerings, customers can rely on Wieland’s strong market position to meet their custom needs.

Wieland Metal Services recently acquired Wrisco Industries, and the acquisition supports Wieland’s growth objectives in aluminum while further expanding its diversified solutions and services. The business will continue to operate under the Wrisco name as Wieland works through its transition and integration into the Wieland Group.
Wieland is a 200-year old, family-owned global technology and service leader in the brass and copper industry, known for excellent customer service and innovative solutions. The acquisition stems from Wieland’s pursuit of specific growth opportunities and expansion of its customer service portfolio specifically focused on North America.
Wieland will ensure to continue to meet the needs of Wrisco customers for best-in-class quality aluminum solutions and value-added services through its world-class processing capabilities, reliable distribution network, and excellent customer service.
In 2019, Rodney Sanders earned the Wrisco Points Leader Award with his third USMTS National Championship and donned the Wrisco spoiler from start to finish, and in 2020 he shared it with Dereck Ramirez for just two nights before making it a permanent part of his familiar No. 20 machine for the rest of the year.
Ramirez bounced back to claim the honor in 2021 as the Summit USMTS National Champion, and Dustin Sorensen acquired the Wieland spoiler early on and wore it all the way to the finsh line as the 2022 USMTS National Champion.
USMTS turns 25 in 2023: The Best of the Best keeps getting better as the Silver Anniversary season for the USMTS blasts off with the 13th Annual Summit Spring Nationals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 2-4, at the Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas.
